On Red Alert
Whew! DC recently wrapped up its “longest, strongest heat wave.” Ever. The city and its suburbs basically turned into one gigantic suffocating sauna for twelve straight days. Ugh!
In case you haven’t noticed, people act differently when it’s oppressively hot. As the sweat starts to stream down your neck, your patience dries up. Tempers flare. In short, you’re like a glowing (glowering?) charcoal briquette in flames.
When I was in San Francisco, though, I noticed vibrant pops of red everywhere—non-heat-induced, of course.
