
Seeing Red
In case you haven’t noticed, I definitely have art on my mind lately. A couple of weeks ago, I saw Ellsworth Kelly in a crew team practicing on the Potomac. And now, I’m looking forward to seeing Red, the Tony Award-winning play about painter Mark Rothko, when it comes to the Arena Stage early next year.
Speaking of red, last Sunday I saw this racing shell near Thompson Boat Center in Georgetown.
The reflection of the red blades in the water reminded me of this Calder* mobile floating in the Central Atrium of the National Gallery’s East Building:
This Thursday, I’m attending an art fundraiser—fertile ground for new observations. I’ll let you know what strikes my fancy…
