So I saw these fragile, lovely little blossoms that had fallen into a bird bath:

Colorful sprinkles floating on water

And that got me reflecting on floral-printed clothes. Honestly? Flowery prints are definitely not my thing. They can be pretty tricky to pull off: from the Good (classy à la Carolina Herrera and cool like this Balenciaga) to the Bad (Carolina Herrera again) to the Fugly (is-that-grandma’s-tablecloth?). My psyche is also scarred by bad memories of frump-o-licious, early 90s Laura Ashley. And combine flowers with sequins, beading and/or brocade, and you’ve quickly got a hot mess on your hands.

But one day, if I’m brave enough to take the plunge, it will have to be something like this “Pepper” pattern by Liberty of London…

…maybe as a neckerchief, headband or bra. Because remember, as is the case with Dior Poison, Ambien pills and Congressman Anthony Weiner, a little definitely goes a long way.
