Anatomy of an Outfit
I normally don’t post photos of myself wearing different outfits (hey, get your mind out of the gutter)—that sort of thing isn’t the main focus of my blog. The famous bloggers out there are much better at it (e.g. Jane Aldridge’s beautiful Sea of Shoes and Kelly Framel’s The Glamourai.) And I totally get the appeal of peering into their stylish lives and overflowing wardrobes.
I started this blog almost six months ago, and it dawned on me that perhaps at this point, you’re wondering if I actually practice what I preach. Do I really wear what I write about? (The answer is a resounding “yes.” No paid advertorials here!) And maybe you’re curious to see an example of how I like to put an outfit together.
So without further ado, here’s what I wore to a small party at Ping Pong Dim Sum a couple of weeks ago:
This is pretty much my signature look—skirt, knits, easy, versatile, practical.
The details:
- Damask skirt by J.Crew
- Yellow cardigan by J.Crew
- Shoes by Anne Klein
- Clutch by Club Monaco
- Earrings from Cusp
- Hosiery by Wolford
Overall, my simple, gold-plated rule is wear what makes you feel great. And always flash a smile.
Btw, if you want to see an official pic from the party, click here.

You look great!
