“Make it work!” Of course, one of my favorite TV shows is Project Runway! It has everything: fashion, cattiness, glimpses into the creative process, Mr. Tan Man himself (Michael Kors) and his outrageous yet astute quips, the luminous wonder known as Heidi Klum. I recently saw a commercial for Season 2 of Project Runway All-Stars which starts next week. This spin-off show offers past contestants of the original series the opportunity to come back for another shot at ruling the runway. Joanna Coles, who was recently named the new Editor-in-Chief of Cosmo, will return as the designers’ wise but tough mentor.

To me, Ms. Coles’ face is actually a combo of two actresses. See for yourself:

Exhibit A

Joanna Coles: option one

Meg Ryan (actress best known for “Sleepless in Seattle”–and having too much collagen injected into her lips)

Exhibit B

Joanna Coles: option two

Tilda Swinton (androgynous actress whom I remember best in the movie “Michael Clayton”)

Besides the overwhelming abundance of pale skin, light eyes and platinum locks, the mash-up is legit, right?

Update on Nov. 18, 2012: The lovely and witty Joanna Coles is featured in today’s “Sunday Routine” column in the New York Times. The top three things I love about her: 1) she has the cutest beagle/lab mix named Phoebe, 2) she’s a fashion editor who actually eats real, hearty food, and 3) she never does work on a Sunday because it’s her time to “restock her brain.”

  1. […] OK, I’ll come clean: I have a minor addiction to HGTV. (Are you really surprised?) House Hunters, House Hunters International, Property Brothers, Selling New York–you name it, I’ve probably seen at least an episode or ten. The shows are an irresistible gateway drug for nesting junkies–a can’t-miss combo of aspirational, inspirational, practical, voyeuristic and entertaining stuff. So what if some of the content happens to be fake? That’s not gonna stop me from gawking at edgeless glass spa showers and vintage pendant lights. And if I ever lose my mind and decide to undertake a gut renovation, I’m gonna hire the Cousins on Call, one of whom is construction project manager Anthony Carrino. He looks exactly like a combo of two famous people. (Perhaps I should have labeled this post a Triple-Take. By the way, I’ve only done one other three-way.) […]
